Lucinda examined his homework, where the handwriting was much neater. She pulled out the makeshift contract to compare. The penmanship was much neater on the homework. There was not much difference, however. Folding the paper back up and putting it back in the pocket, she grinned.
"Fine, just you signature then." She got up from the chair and wandered around, looking at the old books with tattered spines and covered in dust. She listened to him and she scanned the walls, and chuckled.
"It's funny to see your reaction when you I am successful," she replied. "Even if that is a rare occurence, it's still fun." She shrugged and circled around him once, looking at the loose papers. The Room of Requirements was a lot smaller than she thought. Maybe this was because James imagined a small area to do his 'homework'? She didn't know.
James claimed in triumph that he had completed his homework an inch greater than necessary. "Congratulations!" she said with mock enthusiasm. "An achievement you have yet to make!" She jumped and clapped for him. She just laughed when he noted his great penmanship.
Now they stood in silence for a few minutes.
"Want to practice dueling?" she asked suddenly, breaking the silence. "We can use the old DA room..." She looked at him with a grin, eyebrows raised. "I got this book from father and I've been dying to try out some of these spells." She pranced over to her bag and pulled out a large, textbook-sized volume of spells.

James looked at her with a smile. He ignored the things she said before Dueling. "A book from your father? Sure thing. Dueling as you know is one of my favorite things to do." he said with a smile on his face. He truely did like Dueling. He didn't know for sure why he loved it he just did. He looked at her with a smile.
He looked at her for a minute. "Um if you don't mind me asking but what do you think of Alexis James?" he asked her with a small smile. He didn't really know the girl but he thought that she was alright for a girl. But the person he really liked was Lucinda and he didn't want her to know that just yet. He wants to ask her but he's afraid she would say no. So he pretends to like her as they are best friends. But he wonders and always will if she liked him back.

James seemed excited about the book and practicing. He, like Lucinda, loved to duel. It was their favorite thing in common. They dueled all the time when they were little. Once they had stolen their fathers wands to play with. They just said a bunch of made up spells or chants they had heard their parents use before. They got in so much trouble that day. Lucinda smiled at his enthusiasm. The room suddenly transformed from the cluttered little office area to the large, open DA room. Lucinda gasped.
“Cool!” She pranced around the room, admiring everything in it. It was the first time she had been in here and she wanted to get the full feel for it. James talked as she admired their surrounding. He asked her what she thought of Alexis James. Odd, why would he ask that. She felt the heat rise in her face. Was he interested in her? More than friends? She shook her head, clearing it of these thoughts. Why should she care? It was Alexis...somehow she couldn't help but to care.
She turned to him and shrugged, picking up the book and placing it on a podium. “Dunno,” she replied, opening the book and scanning the pages. “She’s a nice enough girl. Smart too. Why?” She looked up from the book now to judge his face. He looked a bit uncomfortable. He wanted to spill something, and she wondered what. He was always comfortable around her. Maybe it was because she was a girl? She couldn’t tell, but she knew that he would make a wonderful boyfriend to anyone he wanted - if that was where the conversation was going.

"Oh just wondering really!" James said with a smile. "Just forget I said anything about you! I mean her." he said quickly. He really did like her a bunch. Which was the main reason why he played pranks on her the most out every single girl there was. "Oh alright I confess. I like you and not Alexis even though she is pretty." he said with a smile on his face. He had to admit that. "But not my type of girl. You on the other hand is. You love to well try to prank me but I love pranking you. Have you always wondered why I pranked you more than anyone else?" he asked her with a small smile.
He looked around the room for the first time. "WOW!" he said in awe. "This place is huge." he said as he did a few twirls in the room. "So this is the DA room that my parents kept ranting about. I wonder if we should bring back the DA." he said with a small smile on his face. "I could ask Headmaster Brendon about it. I have known him for along time and he maybe able to let us start that club up but with our age groups." he said with a smile.

He seemed to be in awe with the room just as much as Lucinda was. Their parents had told them about the room on several occasions, of course, but they had never seen it up until now. Lucinda looked around, smiling at his awed expression. He mentioned Daylor, and Lucinda was suddenly furious.
“Yeah, we know the little brute too,” she muttered angrily. “He knew all along that my dad was gone and didn’t tell me! Nothing! Not even a hint! I had to find out myself through the newspapers. Not the most practical way to let a girl know her dad is missing, believe me! Jerran didn‘t know anything either because he was gone. What use is a Minister who isn‘t informed? I mean, come on people! Now Brendan wants me to go with him to the Ministry and who knows what he has planned!” Her hands balled into fists just at the thought, that she had barely heard what else James had to say. He was very fidgety about it, but Lucinda’s mind was currently racing as to where her father was, what was happening to him, what Jerran was doing to help him, what the meeting with Daylor was going to be about…
“I’m sorry,” she said, sighing out her rampage. “What were you saying? About Alexis? She’s not your type? Yeah, I don’t think she can tame to your pranks as well as I can. What do you think of Link Larkin?” She said absently. “I have yet to really talk to him.” She looked at him and realized that she had clearly just missed something.
