A Dangerous Mind
A thousand years or more ago
when I was newly sewn,
there lived four wizards of renown,
whose names are still well known.
Come back with us to when it all began,
A thousand years or more ago.
Four friends, brought together by what seems like fate,
Wish to share what they know and teach.
United by a common goal,
They had the selfsame yearning
To make the world's best magic school
And pass along their learning.
These four built a great school,
To last for many years.
Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry.
Each founder had their own part of the school,
A House to call their own.
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
loved those of great ambition.
Everything was well for the first few years,
Each working pleasantly within their school.
Then friction was created between Slytherin and Gryffindor.
A trifle or so it seemed at first.
The two had always had their differences,
But remained friends all the same.
Slytherin wished to teach only purebloods,
And some students began to agree.
So Hogwarts worked in harmony
for several happy years,
but then discord crept among us
feeding on our faults and fears.
Things got worse as the years went by,
A wedge began to form.
Slytherin had eyes for fair Ravenclaw
Whilst Gryffindor loved them both.
A clash of men in love
Is a sad thing to behold.
So come on down to Hogwarts
And discover how things unfold.
For with a dangerous mind like Slytherin’s
Who knows how the story will end up being told.
