The Plot
I'll love you even if your heart stops beating
Isabella Marie Swan made a commitment to Edward Anthony Cullen just a few months ago. Marriage. The word still causes Bella to shudder. She has no time for second thoughts, or backward glances towards what could have been. She made a decision. Not only does everyone in Forks knows about the wedding that Bella tried to keep quite, but the date of her death is quickly approaching, and that date means the end of her friendship with Jacob Black. Her best friend, the mortal love of her life, the pain in her ass, and most of all, a werewolf. His being a werewolf wouldn't be a problem if she weren't going to be a vampire in a handful of heartbeats. And the fact that her heartbeats are numbered aren't the only thing driving a wedge between the two of them. Her love for Edward is too.
Speaking of Edward, he's regretting promising Bella, his soul mate, his other half, his Blood Singer, that he would change her if they got married. Not just because he doesn't want Bella to be condemned to the same fate as him, but also because he is unsure of his ability to stop himself from killing her. If something were to go wrong he wouldn't forgive himself, even after he let the Volturi destroy him. But how can he tell Bella this when she believed that Edward had a complete and total handle on his thirst for her blood? Especially when every day is still a struggle not to drink her dry.
The past will come back to haunt you
Maria needs help and she’s set her mind on one person to get it from – the vampire she knew as Jasper Whitlock. There are new cities out there now. Ones further away where the Volturi hold less sway. She has a new campaign brewing in her mind, more territory, more humans, more blood. When Jasper gave that life up she continued with it, not finding the escape he did. She wanted to continue like that, with all the killing and feuds it involved. Maria has been seeing in black and white, the population is growing, no one will notice if they restart what they did years ago. They came so close to winning before and she wants that winning group back. Newborns are not a problem to create; it’s organizing them the way they were before she needs help with - help from Jasper.
Her sights are set on Japan now, on cities where no one will notice the missing humans, cities with plenty of fresh blood. Finding Jasper though is proving harder than she thought. The Cullens have realized now that there is a tracker after them, Jasper specifically, but so far the reasons behind it elude them. Jasper still longs for blood more than the rest of his family but can he turn back to where he came from? Does he really want to abandon them once he discovers who is behind this new potential threat?
Love at first sight so far from home
Jacob ran, he ran just to get away. He thought he had lost his only love, his Bella, to that bloodsucker. To that valiant and completely polite, and understanding bloodsucker. Bella, his Bella, had chosen the bloodsuckers over him again, even when he could be mortal with her. Even when the two of them could raise children together. Even when they had been perfect for one another. In a world where vampires only existed in fairy tales, and horror stories, he and Bella would be together. The worst part was that he knew that with all his heart and soul, and it made it sting that much more when Bella had admitted it.
Through all his attempts, Jake couldn't make himself imprint on Bella as he wished. Even though he knew it was impossible. You can’t force imprinting, just as you cannot stop it. Jake couldn’t stop it in South Dakota, even if he had wanted to. Christina Brandon – the name sounds like music to his ears now. That doesn’t mean Jacob isn’t bitter though, far from. He’s bringing Christina home with him now but it’s not as innocent as simply introducing her to his Dad. No, he wants to make Bella jealous, to see everything she gave up.
