"I'll catch up with the rest of you later." Andrea whispered to some friends who insisted on following her around and talking like no tomorrow, she just wanted to lose them and get some quiet time at last. She waved goodbye to the other Slytherins who looked disappointed and slipped into the library. She set her stuff on the table and went to a row of books. She scanned for one that would catch her attention to learn from and she found it, excited she grabbed it and walked back to her table. She sat down and began to read like she had many times when she wanted to get away from her friends or learn something new. She knew she was well beyond 1st year of anything but she couldn't help her age so she was stuck and all she could do was learn ahead...at least she would know it when the time came for her.

From the other side of the room, the faint sound of another person entering the library caught the attention of the young student. She gave herself a few more minutes to organise the pile of books she had collected whilst browsing for information before she lifted her eyes once to the door before glancing back again.
Definitely a person near her own age. If she had to guess, she presumed she was also a first year. It wasn't this however that caused her to glance back once more.
It was that the girl was faintly recognisable. And unless she was mistaken, that the girl was a Slytherin. A Slytherin who seemed to enjoy spending time in the library. Almost impatient to leave her friends behind for the solitude of this room. She raised an eyebrow and watched the girl for a few seconds curiously.
From her few minutes of observation, she was surprised to notice that the girl also appeared to have a fondness for reading. She glanced back at the small wooden table she was sitting at, staring at the pile of books again, as she remembered what she was doing.
Picking up one of the books, she dusted it carefully before placing it before the blank sheet of parchment she had been leaning on. She flicked through a few pages before reaching the intended page and reaching into her bag to retrieve a single bottle of black ink and a quill. Pausing for a few minutes longer, her eyes flickered every so often to the Slytherin as she started to write.

Every once in a while she felt as if she was being watched it kind of bothered her so the next time she had that feeling she looked up and saw a Ravenclaw girl who looked to be a first year as well look at her and back at whatever she was doing again, and she just rolled her eyes...she hated people watching her like some show just because she spent time in the library and not only to study and she was a Slytherin doing so. After a few more minutes of reading she closed the book and put it back, she would read more of it later if she felt like it. She began browsing for a new one once more and her eyes came to rest on one with what looked like the Black crest on it, curiously she pulled it out and sure enough it was her family crest. She took it back to her same table and looked for a name of who it could have belonged to. There in the inside of the cover in silver letters there was tiny, slanted letters it said 'Property of Bellatrix Black.' and she gasped as she read it, her sisters? She knew that Bella had gone to Hogwarts and was a Slytherin as well but she would have left something like this here? She started read what it was about and saw it was a defense against the dark arts book from when she was in school but scribbled here and there it had dark magic incantations. It had gotten her interest and she continued to read, forgetting there was someone else there.

Placing the quill back in the bottle of ink, she leaned back slightly before picking up the parchment she had been writing upon. She examined it carefully, re-reading it several times even though there were few actual words of meaning written upon the sheet itself.
She glanced at the title of the page and sighed inaudibly, it was such a uninteresting topic which they were focusing on. Being first years, the professors addressed them politely enough but some of the them seemed to be permanently under the impression that none of the students had a larger extent of knowledge.
Some of the stuff they had previously been learning would prove useful, she had little doubt about that, it was just how slowly the lessons appeared to progress.
Sighing once more, she turned the pages of the book on the table, before taking another from the top of the pile, finding that the other had nothing interesting or relevant about the subject of the essay. The next book was proving to be just as useful. She flicked through the pages again, glancing at the scribbled text next to the intricate illustrations which accompanied the content on each page.
Picking up the quill, she bit her lip, whilst formulating the next sentence for her work in her head. Once she was satisfied, she leaned forwards once again, the quill moving quite quickly across the parchment as she scribbled her next argument.
The girl had moved suddenly, she realised when she finally looked up again. She dropped the quill again, her intention being to read it again. As she reached the third paragraph concerning the correct magical functions, she briefly gave thought to what could have caused her companion to move so abruptly from her seat without any obvious reason.

After reading for a while more she looked up and saw the other girl was still there. She closed the book and set it aside for the time being, it really had her…there were spells and curses she had never heard of before. Smiling she walked to the table she was sitting at and extended her hand while introducing herself, which is something she would never do but she’d make it an exception for she was trying to make new friends now and they both really had nothing better to do. “Hello, I’m Andrea Black, and you are?” She asked politely and patiently just incase she was interrupting anything important.

Although she had been in silence for many minutes without a second glance at the other first year, her attention was still somewhat distracted by the thought of which book she had found and was currently reading. Using the quill, she once again began to write quickly.
It occurred to her at this point, that the task was perhaps not going to be as simple as she had previously imagined. It wasn't difficult, it was just that with every word she wrote she became slowly more observant of how long this essay was going to take. And slowly realising that it wasn't the most interesting of subjects anyway and that slowly her enthusiasm for completing the homework early was ebbing away.
She dropped the quill in the bottle, allowing a few minutes for her to think. During this time when she had been shaking her hand gingerly, inspecting it.
It was therefore a slight surprise to realise when looking up that the Slytherin girl had moved away from her table and walked over, with a greeting that plainly expected a polite reply. She bit her lip for a few seconds, thinking, before turning her full attention to the girl beside her.
She managed a small smile, still surprised yet again at the sudden movement of the student. The tone, she noted was not that of an unfriendly one but there still seemed to be something unnatural about it. As though this polite exchange of conversation was something the girl very rarely did. "Hello," she replied slowly, "Sephy Williams."
She glanced back at the sheets of parchment, whilst waiting for a response. Sighing, as she examined the amount of words still unwritten.

She smiled at the girl who had just introduced herself "Well Sephy, I'm please to meet you." She said in a whisper since they were in the library. "If you don't mind me asking what are you working on?" She questioned her trying to make at least some conversation with her, she was bored and she wanted to meet some one new which was something she didn't do that often.

Picking up the quill again in one hand, she used her free hand to pick up another book from the pile. Neither person was saying anything in those first few minutes so she figured she might as well make some effort with her original reason for being there.
As she glanced back again, she realised the girl was addressing her again even managing a small smile in her direction this time. This made her thoughtful, having no recollection of ever seeing a Slytherin student smile before. However, she had only been there a few short weeks and this was probably a unfair judgment to pass so early in the year. She nodded politely, "A pleasure to meet you also."
As she turned quite abruptly, she caught the edge of the bottle causing it to fall and slowly began to cover her work in a thick layer of black liquid. She scowled at her clumsiness.
Examining the sleeve of her robes cautiously, she picked the parchment up in the hope that the worse of the mess would disappear. Placing the quill and ink bottle at the edge of the small table, she pushed the books away, to avoid any further mishaps. She gave a small smile despite the situation, "I was writing a homework essay."
She thought for a few seconds before speaking again, "You don't happen to have a large amount of knowledge surrounding the 'Twelve Uses of Dragon's Blood?'" She gave a small sigh, "All I can find is several notes referring the twelfth use being a good oven cleaner."

This girl was really a true ravenclaw...there was no doubt about it but she couldn't believe she was asking a Slytherin for help, it was normally unheard of. "No I know nothing about Dragon's Blood...growing up I never thought of it as something of importance so never really looked into it." She told her shrugging her shoulders "But if I knew anything I would tell you, all I know is that it could sell for a lot." She said adding that on after a bit. "Is it for Professor Black's class or something?" She asked resting her knee up on a chair and talking at the same time but her mind kept on going back to the book she had found...she would need to write to Bellatrix and tell her about it eventually.
