Addy kicked at the ground as she wondered over to the Whomping Willow, she had decided to stay out of trouble by hiding at the Whomping Willow hopefully away from anymore teachers. "Especially Lucius Malfoy" Addy muttered before slumping down at a safe distant from the angry tree folding her arms across her knees trying not to glare at the tree.

Lucinda was relaxing on a stunned branch of the Whomping Willow. She always wondered what it would be like to climb the Whomping Willow. She first attempted it while it was moving. That was unsuccessful, for she was blown out of the way full force. She then stunned some of the bigger branches and climbed up. Now she was resting peacefully on the branches. As a safety precaution, Lucinda filled some water with a powerful sleeping draft and soaking it in the roots, causing the Whomping Willow to become drowsy. She relaxed among the old branches when someone stormed by. She bore the Gryffindor robes, and Lucinda only recognized her by her voice, which pronounced a name in scornful tones.
“What about Lucius Malfoy?” Lucinda called from her perch to Addy - her fellow Gryffindor. She thingyed her head in mock inquiry, smiling all the same.

Addy jumped and quickly looked around her but upon seeing no one who belonged to that voice she glanced up and dropped her jaw when she saw Lucinda on a branch. She quickly grinned up at the girl knowing that she shouldn't be surprised by anything this girl did anymore. "Dear Merlin, are you trying to give me a heart attack" Addy demanded before laughing "Lucius Malfoy gave me detention in the dungeons for standing in front of the Forbidden Forest" Addy explained before tilting her head.
"Why and how did you get up there? Addy questioned.

Lucinda laughed at Addy’s expression upon seeing her in the tree. Addy grinned. She announced that she had gotten detention by Lucius Malfoy for standing too close to the Forbidden Forest. Lucinda made a face at that grim fact. Just like Lucius to give detention for the littlest of offenses. Lucinda straightened her position on the thick branch she was sitting on before responding.
“Just like him,” Lucinda said. “I’m going to have difficulties in his class. He hates my family. Not only that, but now I have Andrea Black on my case too. As you know, I am officially no stranger to detentions, thanks to her.”
Lucinda got to her feet and jumped from the branch to the very bottom branch, landing on both her feet with a slight thud. Swinging her legs over, she sat down and swung her legs back and forth. She smiled again as she peered at Addy.
“Why I came up here? Simply because I wanted to see if I could do it,” Lucinda replied. “As for how I got up here, it’s a long story.” She indicated to a long scratch that extended from her forehead to her cheek, and then to a bruise on her arm. “I ended up cheating in frustration. I stunned it.” Lucinda laughed and got to her feet again. This time she jumped to the ground. She tumbled over from the long fall, but picked herself back up quickly. Brushing herself off, she added,
“So, what are you doing around here? Besides ranting about Malfoy, which is perfectly understandable?”

Addy winched at Lucinda's wounds and noted that she would have to re-frame from climbing the willow... at least until Lucinda's wounds healed and she forgot how much trouble it was to climb the tree.
Clearing her throat Addy sat up and looked up at Lucinda "well I figured that being around professor's outside of lesson gets me in trouble that it would be best if I hide from any professors out side of lessons and thus not end up in detention... it's my theory and I'm sticking to it for now. Addy declared proudly knowing it wasn't going to last.
"Why are you out here... besides climbing the willow" Addy asked relaxing her shoulders a little.

Lucinda laughed at Addy’s reaction to her battle wounds and mentioned that Lucinda should refrain from climbing any more trees until she was fully healed. She pulled a leave that was stuck to the bottom of her shoe and looked back at Addy.
“What’s life without a little risk?” she said cheerfully. She listened to Addy’s explanation of why she had come out to the Whomping Willow in the first place. Apparently things weren’t going too well for Addy’s first lessons. Lucinda could relate, but didn’t like to dwell too long on the bad things. It seemed that she was more fearful of the teachers than of the lessons themselves. The only teacher Lucinda had a problem with was Lucius Malfoy, and that was typically personal. Professor Barton wasn’t bad herself, except she seemed just a bit too strict for Lucinda’s liking. Although Lucinda would admit that she would rather drink tea with her than old Malfoy any day.
“Avoiding teachers already?” Lucinda said. “Well, hopefully things will get better, once we get used to it. For, like you, I just wanted to get away. I needed somewhere to clear my head from all the mess I just got into. Speaking of which, I should probably write a letter to my father before he hears about this damn detention otherwise.” She spoke this last statement more to herself, writing a mental note in her head to do so.
Addy seemed more relaxed now that she had gotten all that off her shoulders. It was good to talk, Lucinda knew from experience. Keeping things bottled up end up becoming overfilled and exploding eventually. A light breeze rustled Lucinda’s light brown waves. She closed her eyes to enjoy the calming sensation that the breeze had brought with it.

Addy nodded and smiled slightly "I plan to make it my motto... teachers will think I only exist in the classroom" Addy half joked, she had came out to the whomping willow to find a hidng place thankfully she had found Lucinda. The Gryffindor had quickly became some one Addy could to be friends with, she was funny and the best thing of all she loved adventures... Addy had found a perfect partner in crime.

Addy joked about making a motto consisting the idea of teachers only knowing that she existed in the classroom. Lucinda thingyed her head to the side, then smirked.
“We can show those teachers what real Gryffindors can do,” she said. “When the time comes. We don’t necessarily want to go looking for trouble, per say.” Lucinda winked and looked at the Whomping Willow. Her sleeping draught must be wearing off, therefore Lucinda thought they had better clear off. The branches waved dangerously and Lucinda grabbed Addy’s arm, moving her away from a branch that had nearly missed crushing her.
“Come on, before it reaches full consciousness.” Lucinda ran to a patch of grass that was just out of the Whomping Willow’s reach.

Addy moved away with Lucinda and watched the willow thrash it's branches around trying to catch something to release it's anger at.
"Being a Gryffindor didn't help with Lucius Malfoy... but I understand what your saying. Though by the end of the year we're going to have to expand our adventures, the school can only have only so many places" Addy declared warming to the idea already despite the fact she was looking to keep out of trouble. "I'm wondering if you haven't already got a cunning plan?" Addy questioned narrowing her eyes in amusement at Lucinda.

Lucinda grimaced at the thought of Lucius Malfoy. He hadn't done anything personally offensive so far, so Lucinda couldn't really say anything except what had happened in the past. It was thanks to him that the Ministry formed that new rule that children must be escorted by a parent. It made Lucinda angry because it made her dad look bad for loosing track of her. She was the one who had wandered off and he certainly gave her a light scolding after she had calmed down.
"You're right," Lucinda said with a shrug. "Being Gryffindors will not help our situation with Malfoy. However, it's we Gryffindors that can make a difference in the world."
Addy mentioned that by the end of the year, their adventures must be expanded. Lucinda laughed at this. Addy was an adventurist, too? This was going to be fun. It was hard to find someone else who was willing to risk a little for some fun. Lucinda loved adventures, that was why she had entered that Brain Room in the first place. Although she didn't know at the time what the contents of the room held.
"Let's see," Lucinda said in mock thinking. "There are so many suggestions. We could go explore the castle - there are tons of secret passageways and stuff there. We could explore the confines of the Black Lake? Or we could go to the Quidditch Pitch and create our own Quidditch adventure. We may be first years, but we haven't been banned from using the school brooms, considering we must 'practice' our flying skills for try-outs. Or that would be what the teachers think, anyway. Take your pick, or if you would like to suggest an alternative, be my guest." Lucinda smiled.

Post by Professor George Weasley on Jan 5, 2008 15:31:44 GMT -5
George had been watching Lucinda and Adalia from within the tree, hiding in the base, where touching the knot freezes the tree's homicidal whippings and thrashings. The base of the tree was a cozy place for such a tall guy, but he'd FINALLY found a place to do his paperwork in relative silence.
At least, until the two Gryffindor troublemakers du jour showed up. Adalia Addison, his favorite suck-up (he giggled as he thought of her compliment-laced application for Broom Practice), and Lucinda Chaplin, who seemed a bit too curious for her own good, but a nice kid nonetheless.
George contemplated whether he should really scare the two of them, or punish them for going near the Whomping Willow. He recalled that his own brother had gotten his leg bone shattered by the vicious tree, and reasoned that it would be good to give the two of them a warning.
But then George heard the soft thump of tiny feet upon grass. Apparently the two of them had decided to jump off of the tree. Good thinking. He poked his head out of the base of the Whomping Willow, watching the two of them plan sinister acts. He gulped and went back into the Whomping Willow's hollowed-out room.
Fred and I used to do that, George thought, melancholy. He closed his eyes and sat there for a while, letting the hurt wash over him.

Addy grinned and slumped down thinking for a moment at Lucinda's suggestions. "I may have a few, though I think we might get in some trouble for flying around our common room" Addy admitted before furrowing her brow glancing back to the tree and tilted her head.
"I have heard or rather read about a secret entrance to Hogsmead and I'm still trying to understand why the forest is so forbidden and scary" Addy added with a smirk. "But I think we should try your ideas first... at least until we get some steam behind us" Addy admitted before frowning at the tree when she could swear she saw a flash of red at the base of the tree but shrugged just assuring her self it was a trick of the sun.

Lucinda smirked when Addy mentioned how much trouble they might be in if they were caught flying around the Common Room. Lucinda had already gotten in trouble too much for her first day and was probably going to get in even more. She just might as well face the music. She wasn’t afraid of a little risk and if she was going to get in trouble, at least she would have had fun breaking those rules.
Addy suggested that they heed to Lucinda’s ideas, just up until they are back on solid ground. They had already been scolded by two teachers within their first week at school, so Addy’s suggestion seemed reasonable enough for her.
“We could go about hexing things,” Lucinda suggested. “I could teach you some of the spells I learned at home.” Lucinda was not going to make the mistake of mentioning the Order again like she had with Professor Black. She still wanted to kick herself for that, but knew she should just let it go. “I know some good ones.” Lucinda pulled out her wand and moved it around between her fingers.
“I heard that there is a secret entrance to the Shrieking Shack,” Lucinda said thoughtfully. “As a matter of fact, I heard it was in the Whomping Willow. There is a spell or a tree branch or something that numbs the tree down so you can enter it. I have yet to find it, however.” Lucinda motioned behind her towards the tree. Lucinda wasn’t sure if Addy would be up for such an adventure, since they both knew they should keep a clean record for the next few weeks. She didn’t mind if Addy refused, however, and showed this in her face. She wouldn’t mind doing anything, quite frankly. As long as it was fun and something interesting to do.

Addy gave Lucinda a look, a do you even have to ask look.
"Remember my motto, no teachers I'm there... I make a vow to stay out of trouble so if it's off to the shrieking shack where no teachers can find us then let it be" Addy declared jumping to her feet and standing as tall as she could.

Lucinda laughed at Addy's expression. It told Lucinda that she didn't even need to ask Addy such a question. Addy said that she as was there, as long as there were no teachers about.
"I highly doubt there are teachers about," Lucinda assured her.
Lucinda walked closer to the Whomping Willow, which had calmed itself and was no longer thrashing its branches about. Lucinda still stood out of reach of the dangerous branches, just in case. She peered at the trunk of the tree, where she saw the opening. She pointed to it.
"There," she announced. "That's our destination. Do you wish to stun the tree, or shall I?" Lucinda smiled, but her smile vanished as she saw movement in the hollow of the tree. Who or what could that be? Lucinda reckoned that it was an animal maybe, but it seemed too large. She thingyed her head to the side and she studied the hollow.
