George watched Lucius seat himself, then heard about first years running wild. George thought about his little adventure to the Great Hall with Lucinda and said nothing. The fact that his name hadn't come up yet as an influence was good, very good. George was fairly certain that the patch of swampland near the Charms room was doing a lot towards making him a popular teacher... for all the wrong reasons...
Madam Trickora sat herself near George, jostling him slightly. She looked unnerved - probably over being so late. George felt it.
"...I haven't really seen any students acting crazy, Headmaster," George noted, "but I've been kind of holed up in the Staff Lounge... paperwork and such..." George took another sip of firewhisky, doing his best to avoid Lucius' piercing gaze.

((Brendan, did you mean me with Lynette? If so, then I have to say that Lyn is only Lyn and it doesn't come from Lynette )) Lyn listened to the Headmasters words and then to her fellow teachers' answers. When the Headmaster adressed her and Lucius she didn't know what to do first. Should she answer or wait for her teaching partner to answer? She decided to answer."We haven't had any lessons yet Headmaster. We'll report to you how our first lesson has been after we finished it. Do you agree Professor Malfoy?" Lyn asked her teaching partner. Seriously she didn't thought about him like the others did. She respected him, but that respect wasn't from fear, as so many had that kind of respect. She waited for Professor Lucius malfoy's reply.

Ah, the students. Something Lucius was planning to bring up anyway. He was glad to hear that the Headmaster himself had witnessed Lucinda Chaplin's disrespectful nature. But when Andrea's name was mentioned, his mood darkened. No one ever liked to hear a family member of theirs having to be disciplined, especially one that belonged to one of the old wizarding families. But it was a minor detail. Andrea Black would not be getting in any more trouble.
"You see, Headmaster? I can tell you that this will continue until these students are dealt with accordingly."
Finally, the matter he'd been wanting to discuss had been brought up. And the fact that he was right about the disorderly students just seemed to make him more arrogant. Then, his own partner addressed him and he nodded to her, a show of respect that surprised everyone at the table.
"No worries, headmaster. You'll definitely be hearing from me when it comes to unruly students. My offer we discussed in your office still stands, you know."

George utterly hated Lucius' pomposity. The hand clutching his firewhisky shook a bit, but George was able to get his emotions under control long enough to turn to Madame Trickora. Seeing as she was the only professor there he didn't know, he shrugged at her and smiled. "Hi. I don't think I know you... Professor George Weasley, Flying, Broom Practice teacher and Quidditch Head." Honestly, George didn't even know what Madame Trickora taught, just that she was fairly high up in the ranks.
George was doing triple-duty now; he was doing everything he could to avoid Lucius' gaze, trying to learn more about Madame Trickora, and paying attention to Headmaster Daylor. If the day kept going on like this, George got the feeling he was going to snap. But he couldn't. George needed to do his best right now. The Headmaster was counting on him to be civil and poised. And George didn't feel like letting him down.

Zoe glared at Malfoy. "'Deal with them accordingly'," she repeated, "what does that mean? Slipping enchanted diaries into their cauldrons at the first chance you get?" she realized that her temper was getting the better of her and tried to control it. She heard George introduce himself to another teacher that had just sat down. She jumped at the chance to prove she was calm. "Hello, I don't believe I've met you either, I'm Zoe Black," she smiled. She new this teacher taught Magical Remedies, but she had never met her before.

"You have had difficulties with Miss Chaplin as well?" she asked rhetorically. "Before I came here I caught her and another Gryffindor student, Adalia Addison, trying to sneak into the Shrieking Shack. I deducted points and said I'd talk to Brendan and Minerva about the possibility of a detention. If Miss Chaplin has already had a detention I have to admit I'm rather concerned. So many offences in one week?"
Netta turned her head a fraction to look at Katana. She was the magical remedies teacher. An ex-Slytherin if Netta remembered correctly. "Hello Madame Trikora," Netta greeted her politely. "I'm Netta Barton." She didn't really know the other teacher very well. Netta didn't know many of the current teaching staff very well, there were a lot of new teachers because of the many new subjects.

Lucius once again found himself the subject of ridicule as Professor Black asked him his idea of dealing with the students accordingly. Lucius returned her glare with one of his own, showing her that he would not be intimidated by the likes of her. Zoe Black....hah. Though she was raven-haired, there's was nothing about her Lucius could sense that resembled their family. Just another rip-off of the original Black name.
"Professor, don't sound so offended. I just suggested we take firmer action with the students. The detentions and deducting of House points doesn't seem to phase them as well as it used to."
With another nod to her, he watched as Madam Trickora entered and joined them at the table. For her, Lucius had a friendly smirk. She was also a former Slytherin, maybe she could sympathize with Lucius Malfoy.

George was shocked at Professor Black's utter display of nerve, especially when her snide remark was sure to open old wounds in many of the table's occupants. Never mind that he'd almost lost his sister to that particular machination of Lucius Malfoy's. But he couldn't act up like Zoe. He had to be strong.
George noticed that he was the only one at the table drinking anything remotely strong, although he realized that nobody seemed to be looking down on him for it. Some, like Zoe, looked like they could really use some firewhisky themselves.
"I don't even have a roster," George muttered. "Can we worry about disciplinary tactics until after classes have fully started? Half of the subjects aren't even underway at the moment. Students have way too much free time... once classes start, infractions will probably stop." George smiled. "When I had free time in school, I was ten times more likely to be a total arse. I'm sure that's what's going on now, Mr. Malfoy, Professor Barton."

Lyn thought she should also say her justice now. She had been a teacher at another wizarding school and those students were also like the ones they had to deal now.
"If I may say something."
She begun,
"I do agree with Professor Weasley, on one thing: students have too much free time. But I do also agree with Professor Malfoy, we need firmer actions towards the students. I don't think they care too much about the house points for all they're looking for is fun. Some students in Professor Malfoy's and my class have said the reason for their sign ups was that it sounds like fun. Dueling has nothing to do with having fun, it has to be taken seriously, and our students don't seem to notice that. I don't know about the reasons they joined the other classes, but some harsh punishments, strickt rules, and less free time may solve the problem."
She was a curious how the other Professors would react to her statement and if they'd agree or disagree with her.

Katana nodded to Professor Barton, she was feeling slightly awkward about the fact that the professors were calling her by her last name. She switched her gaze to Malfoy, he was the reason Slytherins got bad names. She sighed turning to George.
"Katana Trickora, Magical Remedies instructor." She answered but trying to figure out what they were talking about. She had determined it was something about disrespectful students. Something she disliked dealing with. She happened to be a very strict person but not cruel.
"I understand that yes, we have a problem with unruly students but medieval forms of punishment aren't going to be the answer it will only make them want to act out more. Make them clean parts of the castle, the muggle way. No wands, then maybe we'll get somewhere with them." She sighed taking another small sip of her butterbeer.

"Personally," began Netta, "I agree with all of you. Once all the classes are up and running, there will be less trouble making once classes start but I think further action needs to be taken. If they're not worried about House Points and detention now, what's it going to be like later in the year when they grow more confident? And that's a very good idea Katana," Netta added, "it would certainly encourage a large number of students to behave."
This mini staff meeting seemed to be going quite well so far. No one had openly threatened or hexed anyone yet. That was always Netta's mark for if something was going "well" or not. It was a nice change to meet in The Three Broomsticks as well. It meant they could all go out and have a drink, as well as making it less likely that any hexing would take place. It was a public place after all.

George was glad that Netta was so accomodating. Otherwise someone - most likely Zoe - would've thrown something large and heavy at Lucius by now. Although Madame Trickora - scratch that, Katana - seemed not so thrilled with Lucius either, though she was a Slytherin teacher. "Nice to meet you, Katana." He recalled what Lyn had said about trying to get more comfortable with the other teachers, so he used her first name before turning back to Netta.
"Muggle cleaning is a nightmare," George muttered to Netta. "Only the really obnoxious wan - students," he corrected himself quickly, hoping no one caught it, "will act up after dealing with that. I should know..."
George took a sip of firewhisky, realizing he'd just indirectly called himself a wanker. Oh well, he already knew it. "But lines work well, too. Sorting Potions ingredients. Nothing violent; that just riles up students and gets them thinking about rebelling. Unless they were spineless to begin with."

Despite the constant notion that he wasn't wanted at this meeting, things seemed to be going well. His dueling partner and Professor Barton seemed to agree with him that the staff needed to run a tighter shift. As all of this was going on, Lucius sat quietly, sipping his butterbeer. He really didn't care for the taste of it, but he deemed it rude not to at least try it seeing how it was at the headmaster's expense. He preferred something more civil, like one of the fine wines he kept in his home. Upon hearing his partner speak, Lucius nodded in agreement with her.
"Less free time would indeed cut down all the tomfoolery. Then again, this may be a matter handled best by the female staff. I only have my own son Draco, who might I mention would never act the way the girls have. With Draco, I had an unwaivering respect."
Lucius seemed to be talking to himself at this point and quickly looks back at the crowd. He wondered if he even should've came to the meeting. After all, he didn't plan on spending any more time than necessary with them. Once the new Dark Lord rose and the Death Eaters were rallied, he'd be on the opposite side. Wouldn't matter....most of them treated him with disgust anyways, but it didn't bother Lucius. If they weren't family, they really weren't worth associating with. He quickly glanced around the table, wondering which of these professors he'd find himself engaged in a duel with in the future. His eyes locked on George Weasley, who seemed to be the only one drinking something stronger than the rest. Lucius tsk tsked quietly, knowing that if a situation came up, he and George Weasley would fight to the death.

Zoe just listened to the conversation. Not knowing if she was welcome in the conversation after her outburst. She looked at the other teachers, none of them had really noticed it, apart from Lucius, who had calmly fought her down. She really hated him. She looked at George, Zoe! That was his sister! She turned away sharply and continued to listen to the meeting, scolding herself for letting go of her emotions. She heard the teachers talking about Muggle work as punishment. She thought that could work. She turned around quickly when George spoke. He corrected himself. Zoe took a sip of Butterbeer to hide her laughter, she spilled some of it on her nose. She put the glass down, covering her nose with her free hand as she did. She finally braved joining the conversation again. "I agree with both suggestions, that the students have too much free time, and that Muggle labor would be good as punishment. Whether the pupils stick to the given task however, is another matter."

"I don't think many of the students know how to do wandless magic so If we take away thier wands then they shouldn't be able to get out of it. If one of supervised it then they won't just be sitting there during thier detention." Katana offered now giving Lucius a cold stare.
"The boys are just as bed as the girls Lucius, you just haven't caught any of them yet, and I've met your son he's no angel. As cunning as Slytherins are he just rarely got caught." She was only twenty one therefore she was in school at one point when Draco was.
