Jerran looked to him with a look with what the hell was going on but he didn't mind. "Wasn't it that Rubeus did the Giants and the Dementors are already taken care of by me and the Ministry."Jerran said looking to Daylor. "They aren't in the world anymore if they do they get a signal that a Patronus turned to him so he need to get back to Askaban so that is done."Jerran said.

Brendan chuckled. He couldn't help it. "Oh, but Professor Hagrid took care of them alright but is still having trouble with them seeing as most are overpowering his brother Grawp. And as for the Dementors, I have sighted them many. 12 of them at Godrics Hallow, remember Zoe? Oh, and 2 here last week remember Rosmerta. 7 in London, 1 in Little Winging, 5 attacking Diagon Alley in November, 1 at the Ministry if you remember Jarren, and of course 4 Dementors at my school Monday night!" He looked around at everyones amazement. He had seen 32 Dementors in the past 5 months!

"That is not my fault Daylor you know that."Jerran said looking to the Headmaster. "We all know that I am just the Minister and I want to do alot but I can't"Jerran said. "There are departments that take care of that i will talk to them later about that."Jerran said wrting it down so he won't forget it. He looked to him.
"Problems and Problems but yes I tried and will do enough but that is all I can do I don't DO everything if so I didn't need the departments and then wasn't I the Minister so don't think it is my fault."Jerran said. "I take care of more problems like with the Minister in Muggleworld and all the other things."Jerran said.

"Hello Jerran," Netta greeted the Minister warmly. She di remember him from school, he had been a few years below herself and Brendan. A Gryffindor if her memory served her correctly. The conversation turned more serious once more. Dementors everywhere. Roaming the streets. Diagon Alley, London, Hogsmeade, even Hogwarts! This did not bode well.
"Don't worry Jerran," commented Netta with a light laugh. "We know you're doing your best. Now back to the situation at hand. I think a good thing to do would be to establish how so many Dementors are away from Azkhaban and set up measures to prevent it happening again." She then turned to face the Headmaster. "Emerald Jewel?" she asked perplexed, "I know nothing about that issue."

"Yes, I do remember," Zoe replied to the Headmaster, "so, have you found out who had the Prime Minister under the Imperious Curse yet, Minister?" She asked timidly, hoping not to stress the man for fear that he would explode. She looked around at the teachers, to see if they had had any word.

Brendan looked to Netta and gave her a look as if to say this isn't the time to discuss that! He turned back to the Minister. "You know I mean no threats Maladene and I completely agree with Netta." He sat straight up and shifted his cup.
"Now about the school defenses. I believe with Death Eaters on the run again I have no doubt they might try to attack the school." He said swiftly. "As in memory of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore we must take caution. Now any suggestions anyone? I propose I set up barrier charms, dark traps and perhaps persuade the thestrals to help." He tried to cover his arm again for wanting no one to see.

George nearly choked when the Minister of Magic sat down at the table. He coughed surreptitiously, clearing his throat of excess firewhisky, and nodded to the Minister - they were on pretty good terms, after all, seeing as Jerran was a close friend of his wife Erica's. Sometimes George wondered if Jerran's intentions with her were friendly, but he trusted his wife absolutely. Just not Jerran.
"Hello, Jerran," George smiled. "We're just talking about impending danger. Nothing out of the ordinary." George shrugged, although his mind was plagued with bizarre and frightening theories as to why Headmaster Daylor hadn't told him a THING about what he was supposed to do. If every other person had a role here save him, then WHY was he with them? It was odd.

"Yes there is a bug in the Ministry I think."Jerran said looking to Zoe. "I think I need to look that out because after a week people get missing and sick all the time so there is a apple in the house that is bugging us all."Jerran said. "Now for the dementors there will be new stuff something like a ring around them as if they try to attack you just need to say the spell and the dementor will vanish to Azkaban."Jerran said.
"Hello George how is your wife haven't seen her in a while."Jerran said. He then heard a new subject by Netta. The Emerald Jewel. Nothing has been said as he looked around if any other staff will say something.

George remained at ease as Jerran addressed him. He was sure that Lucius would get frustrated with the prattle at any minute, but he wasn't going to look at him until he said something. New rule implemented... now.
"Erica? She's doing a lot better," George responded. "She got over that bubotuber pus poisoning - remember? We missed out on your trip because of it... nasty substance, really, bubotuber pus." George winced, recalling many a sleepless night filled with projectile vomiting and large boils. "But she's not been out in a while... on a leave of absence."
George didn't want to say why, in case the others at the table - particularly Lucius - were untrustworthy. It wasn't something one brought up in polite conversation, anyway.

Sorry, Netta mouthed in response to Brendan. She had no idea that this jewel was a sensitove topic. She was confused. If he hadn't meant for it to be discussed, why had he brought it up? Strange. She turned her mind to the actual topic of coversation, planning to talk to him about this Jewel later when there were less people around. Safer, far, far, safer.
The conversation turned brifly to Goegre's wife, Erica. That could quickly get rather unsavoury. She hoped it wouldn't. "Thestrals sounds like a good idea," Netta agreed with Brendan. "As does barrier charms. There are some other charms I know which I think would be useful to put in place as well."

Zoe sat back and listened to the conversation take place, yet again. She felt odd in this conversation, but she couldn't explain why. "I think Barriers will give us time if we are attacked, but I have to ask, in what way are the Thestrals going to be able to help?" She was genuinely curious, she couldn't think of any way they could help. "I could also talk a few of the dragons into helping, if that is necessary," she had requested that, but she couldn't see the school in need of that much help.

"'Let her rest and she can later come back her spot is always open."Jerran said looking to George. He then listened to what Zoe said. "Zoe I don't think dragons would help."Jerran said. "These Dementors can against fire."Jerran said. "Only Patronus and barriers help to protect but yeah new Dementors."Jerran said. "The old ministers Idea."Jerran said. He heard the plan of Netta and agreed.

"I didn't think they would be able to help, but in case of a..." she lowered her voice, "Death Eater attack, they are always there," her voice returned to normal. She looked around and waited for the other teachers to contribute. She took another sip of her Butterbeer and set the bottle down.

Post by Professor Lyn Collins on Jan 18, 2008 19:20:31 GMT -5
Lyn has listened carefully about the defenses and as a Duelist she felt the urge to help.
"If you don't mind,"
She begun and looked at the Headmaster.
"I'd help you with the barrier charms and the dark traps. And if you allow me to say that we can't just use a handful of them and hope they'll give us enough time if an attack should happen; barrier charms need to be chosen carefully. The same goes for the dark traps. I'm willing to help you Headmaster choosing the right ones. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying you won't choose the right ones, but none is invencible, and two casting the same spell makes its effect stronger than if there'd be just one casting it."
Lyn spoke of experience. She knew exactly what to when planning a defense. Everyone had his role, and hers, as she felt, was to help constructing the defense barriers and traps.

Katana furrowed her brows in confusion. She didn't know what this convorsation had to do with her, probobly nothing really. She didn't feel like she was being told everything. She didn't like that, but then again it might be better to stay a little ignorant for a while. "Sorry to go off topic, but I just realized I didn't answer Headmaster Brendan, moving my class to the seventh floor would be much more efficient"
